Surfing the Web

Surfing the Web from a PDA? Even with wireless capability, it can be a challenge. AvantGo has incorporated direct Web access into its user design to give you the ability to access any Web site, provided you are online.

To surf the Web:
1. Run AvantGo and ensure that:

  • Your PDA is online (in its cradle or connected to the Internet wirelessly)

  • Your wireless settings are on.

  • Your PDA is set to function online (see the Tools menu, or the Go Online Automatically feature of Wireless Settings.)

2. Go to the AvantGo home page and scroll down until you see the Internet label. (Fig. 3.4)

3. Tap the right-facing arrow beside the Internet label. The Internet text box opens.

4. Use your text entry device to type the URL (Web address) of the site you want to visit.

5. Then tap Go. After a few moments, the site will load.

Keep in mind that if the Web site is not formatted for a small screen, it may be difficult to read. (All AvantGo channels are formatted to fit on your PDA or smartphone's screen.)

Congratulations on how far you've come in the tutorial.
